Introducing Our New Secretary

We are pleased to announce, Events professional, Holly Wignall has taken on the role of Garstang Show Secretary.

Holly will work with the Garstang and District Agricultural & Horticultural Society to organise their one-day show, providing support to all the sections, as well as booking suppliers, entertainers and looking after all of the sponsors and trade stands.

Holly states, “I’m absolutely thrilled to be involved in the show, the prospect of having the opportunity to help grow and develop a hugely integral community event is very exciting.”

Holly brings a wealth of events experience to the role which she will run alongside her current business - Events Live, an events and entertainments agency which hosts a wide range of events from business networking and country festivals to live music and launch events. Holly is really passionate about the events industry which is clear to be seen when you look through her client list including Leyland Festival, Preston and South Ribble City Councils.

Holly also works as a Creative Director for The Storytellers creating original interactive theatre productions and events for schools, community, and corporate events.

Mark Gorst, Chairman of Garstang Show comments, “We are really happy to have Holly on board, her passion and enthusiasm for the show is reflected in the ideas she has presented to us already. Having been very much involved in family entertainment we are looking forward to her new ideas in this area.”

Holly is also keen to maintain the traditional roots of the society which was formed back in 1809 to promote agriculture, animal husbandry and horticulture to the benefit of the public and farming community. Holly states, “There will be lots of exciting activities for children and their families to discover at the show as well as a vast array of animals to watch as they compete across the show ground.”

The show takes place on the 4th August and the main ring act for will be Atkinson Action Horses - a fantastic display of horses and riders who have spent the last 20 years training for film and TV.  Recent credits include Poldark, Victoria and Peaky Blinders! The show includes an astounding display of tricks and stunts including Roman Riding, Drags, Falls, Pick Ups, Flips, Horses Rearing and Laying Down. We can’t wait!

Joining the lineup will be Astral Circus, Little Nippers Terrier Racing and Ridgeside Falconry. As well as all the agricultural displays and horticultural displays there will be a farmer’s market, craft stalls, a variety of trade stands, music, local food and beer.

The After Show Party returns in the evening, with bands soon to be announced. Holly’s background in music and bar events will no doubt provide us with some new experiences which we’re looking forward to.

The committee at Garstang Show work on a voluntary basis and without their support the show couldn’t go ahead. If you think you may be interested in joining the team, you can get in touch with Holly (details below) and come along to the Annual General Meeting on March 5th. The meeting will be held at 7.30pm at the Garstang Country Hotel and Golf Club.
