Light Horses

Our Light Horse section just keeps growing and now includes seven prestigious Horse of the Year Show qualifying classes.  We have the elegant Hacks, strong classes of Riding Horses, workmanlike Cobs and the Working Hunters.  It makes us very proud to go to the NEC in October to watch and celebrate the successes of “our” qualifiers!

However, there are classes for everyone, from lead rein family ponies to coloured cobs with a bit of rustic jumping in between!  We want to encourage our local riders, so a series of unaffiliated classes means you can bring along your horse or pony without having to join a society or pay to register. We’ve split the Veteran classes for 2019, so check them out if you have a golden oldie.

Also new for 2019 is a competition, this year in the Cuddy and Novice/ Unaffiliated Working Hunter (horse) classes, for the Best Shod Horse.  This will be judged by local farrier and great supporter of the show, Thomas Dyson, and there will be a prize for both the exhibitor and the horse’s farrier.
If you show Shetland ponies, do study the changes to those classes – we’ve listened to your feedback and hope we’ll get loads of entries this year.

Last year’s new section for Rescued Horses and Ponies was very well supported, so we’re running those again in the Main Ring from 8.30 am. Please come along and support not only the work of the amazing charities which take on some sad cases, but also those who loan them and give them a fantastic new life.  Be warned – keep your tissues handy!

We’re looking forward to a lovely sunny, busy day on August 3rd, so please get your entries in, whether by post or online, and we’ll see you there!

Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook where updates and classes entry numbers will be posted. www.facebook.com/GarstangShow
