Light Horses

Our Light Horse section just keeps growing and now includes seven prestigious Horse of the Year Show qualifying classes.  We have the elegant Hacks, strong classes of Riding Horses, workmanlike Cobs and the Working Hunters.  It makes us proud to watch at the NEC in October and to celebrate the successes of “our” qualifiers!
However, there are classes for everyone from lead rein family ponies to coloured cobs with a bit of rustic jumping in between!  We want to encourage our local riders, so a series of unaffiliated classes means you can bring along your horse or pony without having to join a society or pay to register.
This year sees, once again, something new to the Show.  We’ve all seen terrible examples of neglect and cruelty of equines, not just in poor countries, but here in the UK.  There are many rescue charities and fantastic rehabilitation centres around the country and we are fortunate in having one of those, World Horse Welfare Penny Farm, on our own doorstep.  They carry out fantastic work and many local families and individuals, including our Light Horse Chairman, Ros Hargreaves, are trusted with the long term care of some of these horses and ponies.
We have decided to stage two in hand classes for these animals and hope that they will be very well-supported.  We can bring the attention of our visiting public to the fantastic efforts being carried out by the charities and enlist their help in doing more of this invaluable work.
We’re looking forward to a lovely sunny, busy day on August 3rd, so please get your entries in, whether by post or online via Entrymaster, and we’ll see you on the day!

Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook where updates and classes entry numbers will be posted.
